The Stolen Rose (Lorenzo Fhoenix Original and Print)

from $12.00

Throughout history, women have been pursued, held captive, raped, molested and lusted after simply because of their beauty and their bodies. In some cultures and other societies, women have been classified as pieces of property to be placed under-foot with their rights stripped away.

I do not believe that the true God, Yahweh, meant this to be the way women are treated.

A woman’s sacred private area has been called, “the flower of her youth”, and what is more beautiful than a rose? This painting depicts and symbolizes the sorrow, strength and the enduring will of a woman who has endured the horrors of being both hurt physically and emotionally scarred from being a victim of such persons’ cruelty and lust.

In her drift amidst the water, the water both refreshes her soul and washes clean her emotional scars and her physical injuries. She does not try to direct herself, but is content to let the water take her where it decides. There is a waterfall where all pain and grief, symbolized by the floating blood-red petals, is washed away. The different colored roses symbolize the different races affected, for lust itself is not restricted to any one race or culture. The scars on her back are those received while she was mentally and physically in chains to the violation(s); the chains appear gold, symbolizing the sweet words or gifts of deception presented her, to make her believe that initially, this was something she was going to enjoy or deserve.

The hand reaches from the darkness where its true intentions dwell; its colors are many, and it has no gender, but its intentions are clearly seen based on the position the hand is in.

The canvas was especially prepared to be textured in certain areas to depict the difficulties victims face when trying to live with the shame, grief and damaged self-esteem that often accompanies these life-shattering distortions. The blue color scheme was chosen for the calming effect, symbolizes the assurance that if Yahweh says, “Peace”, that peace will eventually be reached, and the victim and the assailant will receive true forgiveness is they truly seek it.
